Careers
Embedded Software & Silicon Bring-up Engineer
- Process node
- 12nm FinFET
- Primary RTL language
- VHDL
About the role
In this multi-faceted role, you will bridge hardware and software execution: developing manufacturing test suites, writing bare-metal C drivers and OS kernel/HAL functions, leading post-silicon laboratory bring-up, and building customer-facing reference demos. You will be the primary software owner bringing our 12nm custom processor SoC from initial silicon validation through board-level manufacturing readiness.
Key responsibilities
- Silicon bring-up & validation: Lead hardware/software bring-up in the lab when initial silicon arrives; debug register/bus interactions, memory controllers, and peripheral interfaces.
- Manufacturing & production diagnostics: Design, build, and execute diagnostic test suites and automated production test scripts to validate board assembly, pin continuity, and chip functionality during manufacturing runs.
- Low-level software & drivers: Write, test, and optimize low-level bare-metal C drivers, register abstraction layers (RAL), hardware abstraction layers (HAL), and Board Support Packages (BSP) for our custom processor.
- OS support & system software: Port, configure, and maintain real-time operating systems (RTOS) or lightweight Linux environments, including interrupt handling, memory allocation, and peripheral scheduler hooks.
- Customer demos & reference apps: Develop polished hardware-software demonstrations and application code to highlight chip capabilities for stakeholders and partners.
Required qualifications
- Citizenship requirement: Due to the nature of our defense programs, US citizenship is required.
- Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience in embedded C/C++ development, post-silicon bring-up, and hardware-software integration.
- Low-level C proficiency: Advanced mastery of bare-metal C programming, memory-mapped I/O, bitwise manipulations, inline assembly, and low-level debugging tools (JTAG, GDB, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes).
- Silicon bring-up track record: Direct experience bringing up new SoC/processor silicon, custom FPGA platforms, or evaluation boards.
